With a strong foundation in Lighting Design for live productions, I am adept at navigating CAD software and can confidently interpret architectural drawings (with only the occasional creative workaround). Beyond design, I have a solid grasp of administrative procedures, including word processing, file management, form design, and office systems—enough to keep any office manager on their toes. My diverse experiences have also led me into the worlds of veterinary care and construction management, both as hobbies and career ventures.

More recently, I’ve been dabbling in web development and selling my own artwork, further expanding my creative and technical skill sets.

My employment history has given me the opportunity to develop unique and effective ways to communicate with people across diverse backgrounds and industries. From learning patience and adaptability in the service industry to managing equipment maintenance tracking at Kennedy Space Center, and serving as Head Electrician on an international tour of Sesame Street Live, each experience has expanded my skills in problem-solving, organization, and collaboration.

I thrive in culturally diverse environments and enjoy connecting with people from all backgrounds. I believe that every interaction is an opportunity—everyone has something to teach and something to learn.

Kat Seaton transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, blending artistry with sustainability. From eye-catching jewelry made with vintage electronic components to inspiring wall decor crafted from repurposed floor tiles, her work is a fusion of innovation and charm. Even humble jars find new life as elegant candle and plant holders, adorned with beads, wire, and found treasures.

Turning circuits into statement pieces and beads into conversation starters, I craft jewelry that blends artistry with innovation. Whether it's vintage electronic components, repurposed materials, or unexpected textures, each piece is designed to surprise and delight. My work isn’t just about accessories—it’s about storytelling, sustainability, and a touch of the unexpected.

Facts

NASA’s Space Pen vs. The Soviet Pencil Myth

You may have heard the classic tale: NASA spent millions developing a pen that could write in space, while the Soviets just used a pencil. Sounds like a simple case of over-engineering, right? Well, the truth is a bit different. In reality, both NASA and the Soviets initially used pencils. But wooden pencils posed a huge risk—sharpening them created flammable shavings, and broken graphite tips could float around in microgravity, potentially shorting out electrical equipment or getting into astronauts' eyes and lungs. Enter Paul Fisher, a private inventor who developed the Fisher Space Pen—a pressurized ink pen that worked upside down, underwater, and in extreme temperatures. He wasn’t even funded by NASA—he designed it independently and later sold it to both NASA and the Soviets at a reasonable price. Moral of the story? Sometimes a simple solution isn’t always the best one, and over-engineering isn’t always wasteful—it just depends on the problem you’re solving! 🚀✨
